Come to the Quiet: Beside the Still Waters

By Noel LaChance

About the Book

Come to the Quiet, Beside the Still Waters is a collection of poems, prayers, and reflections written from the author’s time in silence with God. It is rooted in scripture and also explores the themes of healing, hope, forgiveness, and renewal. It also offers encouragement for those walking through pain or seeking deeper faith.

This book invites readers to step away from the noise of life and find peace in the presence of God, with all imagery of quiet places, still water, and the light of Christ. It guides believers to rest in Him, listen for His voice, and also build strength for their spiritual journey.

Enhance Your Vision and Increase Your Knowledge

Chapter 1: A Message to You

The beginning of this chapter is extremely devotional and emphasizes that wisdom always begins with the fear of the Lord and is always found in the word. Drawing from Proverbs, John 1, and Psalm 23, the author has explained that scripture is direct communication of God to us and life for our souls. He encouraged readers to seek daily inspiration from the Bible and let it guide their lives towards wisdom, peace, and mainly understanding.

Chapter 2: Thoughts of Pain and Hope

In this, the author has reflected on personal struggles of despair, loneliness, and betrayal. He has compared the devastation caused by human cruelty to a poisonous harvest of pain. Yet, even in the midst of this darkness, hope always rises through scripture, particularly Psalm 43:5, reminding the soul to place its trust in God. This is the beginning point of his journey to emotional and spiritual healing.

Chapter 3: The Cry of Consternation

This chapter focuses on the spiritual captivity of people who live blindly under sin and oppression. The author has highlighted Isaiah 29:13 19, warning against hollow religion while also pointing towards God’s promise to bring joy, light, and understanding to the humble. This reflection calls both the writer and the reader to examine their own hearts.

Chapter 4: Cancer and Prison of the Soul

Through this reflection, bitterness and inner challenges are described and referred to as a kind of cancer that is eating the soul. The author has warned against the pride that prevents us from seeking help from others and prayer. This chapter is both an encouragement to pursue true deliverance and a warning, too.
